Catch up with the season so far and get the lads to engage and read the website please.

Education is important, but rugby is importanter

The lads have come on in leaps and bounds, building on their skills, fitness and teamwork. The teamwork and enjoyment element of the game was a main objective at the start of the year, and even though there has been 2 losses to 1 win, the lads had something to be proud of in every game with a significant improvement in attitude and effort. If we keep following this path then the results will come. The picture on this article shows a lot more maturity and awareness of position and options at a set piece as a good example.

I know I keep repeating myself but we have struggled with numbers at games and have not yet managed to field a full 15 man side, playing 13-a-side at all the games.

We have 3 arranged fixtures remaining in the season, but if we can get consistent numbers to games (need a minimum of 18 so that we can have 15 a side with 3 subs) then we will happily arrange more fixtures for the rest of the season. I know the lads want to play more games, so it would be good to get this sorted.

Some key points:

  • Robert Fotofili has joined to coach and has done some great work with the backs and the team.
  • Both Team Managers (Cecile and Miriam) have done excellent work in the season and are the main reason things have run so smoothly. Click on their names here to contact them if you have any queries.
  • Parents of this group have always been great and supportive, and this is continuing with some help at the Cafe and a great showing at home games - keep it up!!
  • We've been lucky with recruitment and new kids starting this season who have integrated with the team really well (Frank, Zack, Hugo, Aurellian, John & Harry Aston). Lads should look to bring down more of their mates to training so we can build the squad further.
  • Unfortunately we've had injury and illness issues with some of our stalwarts with around 6-7 unavailable throughout the season for various reasons
  • Kids are starting to gel, numbers at training are improving, another objective set at the start of the season (Click on team information and select More)

Would appreciate it if parents could get their kids to read the match reports & articles below and encourage them to engage more with the club website, where statistics are displayed for the season for each player and we're trying to make team information visible.

Finally, if there is any information that you feel would be helpful or that you are struggling to find about the club and your place in it, please let the Team Managers know and we will arrange for it to be available on the website.

In the meantime, keep letting us know when your child will be at training and fixtures. This really helps planning for sessions. This can be done via the Calendar on the website or more easily via the Pitchero Club app under the schedule tab.

Thanks for your support and let's kick off the second half of the season with a good showing on January 13th at home
