Our ‘home’ base for training (select training venue) is the athletics track at Parliament Hill Fields on the south side of the Heath – NW5 1QR. Easily accessible by public transport, with Gospel Oak and Hampstead Heath Overground stations just a stretch of the legs away, and Belsize Park tube a ten minute’s stroll.
Our base has a full floodlight pitch, an eight lane all-weather track, a trim trail & is surrounded by many hills for that extra humph. We also have contingency for dry training facilities during the depths of mid-winter.
Pre-season sees the Mens sections training Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, with sessions targeted at specific levels of playing. This reverts to Tuesday & Thursday for September to mid -November. November to March training still takes place at the track on Tuesdays only, Wednesdays, senior players train at Archer Academy near East Finchley tube and Thursdays become redundant apart from the odd specified training session (scrum sessions etc.).
The Women+ train Tuesday & Thursdays, July – December, at the track. January – March, the Ladies train at Middlesex University on a Tuesday & at the track on a Thursday.
During April, both sections are at the track Tuesday & Thursdays.
All senior sessions start at 7pm & finish between 8.30-9pm and we aim to have physios in attendance to soothe any aches, pains & strains.
Our Juniors train Saturday morning 10.30 – 12.30 from September – mid May. If a parent, don’t fret we have a small cafe churning out teas, coffees & bacon butties. Since 2017 juniors have run a mid-week session on Wednesdays for the elder age groups, focussing on skills and fitness, and this has had some great results.
There is no such thing as an off season at Hampstead, as there is mixed touch rugby / sevens training / conditioning sessions all taking place.
